He was supposed to be out here to hunt, but he would get around to it eventually. The freshkill pile was stocked enough, so he had all day to get this task done in his opinion. None the less, he kept his ears pricked to alert himself of the faintest sound of paw steps so he could get himself up before getting caught. The last thing he needed was a lecture from Leaftail, or StarClan forbid, Rosestar.[break][break]
Around him the world was calm. The leaves had just started showing signs of death in their vibrant yellow, orange, and red hues. Occasionally a gust of wind would be strong enough to swipe them from their branches where they would drift down to the world around him. The sound of the river beside him trickled through the stones and pebbles on the edge of the bank. Every so often a fish would cause a soft splash near the surface of the water.[break][break]
Everything was calm â except for inside the young tomâs own mind. His discontent with clan life and clan structure was a voice within him that seemed to grow louder with every passing moon. He was different from everyone around him, and it was something he couldnât even share with others in fear of their judgement and persecution. It was forever a hidden, buried secret.
