[attr="class","arrgenMAINTEXT"]since he was a kit, whiterunner felt as if he was in competition with his own flesh and blood. and, being raised by all she-cats, taught him hard work and dedication would take him leaps and bounds above raw strength.
though his mother was quiet for the most part, she instilled a deep love for his clan in windrunner. she admired the leader and deputy, making young windrunner strive to be the next leader of windclan one day. though some find him a bit boring at times, windrunner is able to assess situations and react strictly under the warrior code. his loyalties were certainly tested with dovecall, and he proves himself every day that she does not influence his thinking.
as a leader and mentor, windrunner learned his coarseness from his own mentor. the tom can be snappy at times, and demand 110% out of the clan cats, especially the youth. it's not surprising for whiterunner to nip the heels of lazy cats.
since his sister's abandonment, he holds a lot of resentment towards rogues and loners. his distaste is brought up any time they have asked to join. whiterunner isn't afraid to voice his opinion after all, and his bluntness often becomes his downfall.

[attr="class","arrgenMAINTEXT"]parents: frostgaze [m] & unnamed [f]
sibling: dovecall
past mentor: badgerstripe
apprentices: lostleg
mate & kits: none atm
frostgaze was a strong warrior, a she-cat who knew what she wanted and how to play her strengths. when it was rumored that she was carrying kits, most of windclan was surprised. frostgaze had never publicly taken a mate, nor was really close with anyone for that matter. so when it was time for her kitting, only her and her mother, blizzardshine, were with the medicine cat. birthing two healthy kits, the identity of the father was completely up in the air, because the kits had similar white pelts. dovekit, was a solid white she-cat, while whitekit had stripes of a pale orange across his face. the two were a storm of a litter, constantly sneaking out and causing chaos in the clan. the other queens swore there was no way the two were born to the quiet frostgaze, but, nevertheless, the she-cat took full responsibility for her reckless kits.
instead of the normal parental pair, frostgaze and her mother raised the two siblings. frostgaze was mostly quiet, hoping the two kits would settle into their own personalities, while the kits' grandmother showed them the iron claw. little dovekit and whitekit feared their grandmother, and respected her, unlike the rest of windclan. dovekit had a wicked tongue, and was always getting scolded. whitekit was too focused on getting out of the nursery to bother with his sister's antics. though, like the good first born brother that he was, always came to dovekit's aid whenever she needed him.
named at 6 moons, dovepaw and whitepaw entered their apprenticeship. whitepaw acted as a sponge, ready to soak in every ounce of knowledge he could. given the half blind senior warrior, badgerstripe, he couldn't help but be disappointed. how could a warrior, who could only see half of what the other warriors could see, make him a better warrior than his sister? and to drive a jealous wedge even further between he and his sister, her mentor was no other than the clan leader!
after overhearing whitepaw's complaints with the other apprentices, badgerstripe took whitepaw aside. the senior warrior had fought in countless battles, and even earned his largest scar across his eye from the battle of the gorge. the tom, by no means, was happy with his apprentice, or found humor in the tom's naiveness. taking him down from sunhigh till silverpelt stretched across the sky, badgerstripe crushed whitepaw's false confidence. though whitepaw was run ragged, he was amazed at how well badgerstripe could fight, even with his disability. not only did the little apprentice earn battle technique knowledge, but a respect for both the warrior and others in his similar circumstances.
unlike his sister, who was able to take down an opponent twice her size, whitepaw excelled at hunting, especially in speed. while dovepaw took on a more bulky build, whitepaw became lean, and used his long limbs to his advantage on the moors. dovepaw, who assisted and saved another apprentice during the fight with shadowclan, was named dovecall for her bravery. bitter, whitepaw continued to train along side badgerstripe, eventually earning his own warrior name, whiterunner, a moon later.
it was moons of begging before whiterunner was rewarded his first apprentice, a young molly named ebonypaw. the small, black apprentice reminded whiterunner of his sister; dove into danger head-first, and always spoke before she thought. whiterunner teased the young apprentice constantly for not watching nor listening before she attempted to do something. whiterunner was a fair mentor, who equally celebrated her accomplishments and scolded her on her mistakes.
during her 12th moon, whiterunner gave ebonypaw her test to be considered as a warrior. it was simple, successfully hunt a full-sized rabbit on the moor. but as he was assessing her test, the molly slipped out of whiterunner's view. the sun was setting, making the dark-furred apprentice hard to see as it was, whiterunner began to panic. the tom followed her scent downwind, and stopped when he first heard her wailing.
it was rumored, that the twolegs who had lived at the twoleg place seasons before had left strong, metal traps near the deep dips of the moor. to whiterunner's knowledge, the traps had been long taken care of; but to ebonypaw's surprise, there was still one.
when whiterunner found her, she had already lost a lot of blood and was throwing her head back half-consciously. whiterunner pried at the metal teeth, but with no avail. sprinting as fast as he could back to camp, he had the medicine cat and a few warriors follow him to the moor. while they were able to save the molly, the medicine cat had to unfortunately remove one of her hind legs behind in the trap. the limp leg had only been hanging on by a few shreds of muscle from the jaws of the trap, so they doubt she'd ever regain function of it.
the rest of her training was slow. obviously held back from becoming a warrior, whiterunner had to not only find alternative ways for the molly to fight and hunt, but to teach her how to walk or jump again. ebonypaw was not the same. the once spunky apprentice, was nothing but a shell of her former self. and whiterunner took all of what happened, and placed that guilt on his shoulders.
eager to not give up on the molly, he tasked her with another warrior's test, bring back the plumpest crow she could find. some warriors found it cruel he would instruct she'd find a flying prey, especially one the same size as her, but whiterunner was confident she could do it. and after a long day of shadowing the apprentice, he was the loudest voice chanting her new name; lostleg.
though he despised the name, his apprentice took to it with pride. she'd tell him that if she was named of her appearance, she'd have the upper hand in battle. no cat would think they'd win against a three-limbed warrior. she'd show them different.
unable to shake the feeling of guilt whenever he saw his old apprentice in camp, he attempted to reconnect the close bond he shared with his sister. dovecall was the talk of the clan. the beautiful molly was sought after by many of the warriors, and for good reasons. she was pretty, yes, but she excelled as a warrior as well. whiterunner and dovecall connected as easily as they had as kits, but things suddenly came to a halt when dovecall admitted that she didn't think she belonged in windclan.
appalled, whiterunner was confused by his sister's openness about her feelings. how could she not fit in with windclan? she had plenty of friends, was constantly surrounded by suitors, and had a loving mother and brother. but, just as she was as a kit, she hated the confinement of the rules set before her and the responsibilities that came with it.
as newleaf approached, she made her decision; to leave windclan. whiterunner pleaded her to stay, but grew angry as she belittled him and his dedication to a clan who only saw him as a notch in a tree and a mouth to feed. finally, something snapped in whiterunner. he chased his sister out of camp, and off of windclan's territory. and, with tears streaming down his face, had to address the clan what had happened.
a moon later, mourns the life of not just his leader, but the deputy too. his childhood training friend, darkfire became leader, and to his surprise, chose whiterunner as his deputy.
whiterunner remains ever loyal to his clan, but is still unable to talk about his sister or the events that led to lostleg's naming ceremony.
