[attr="class","arrgenMAINTEXT"]Unfortunately for Nightlight, Star Clan did not seem to bestow upon her a particularly imposing bulk, figure or personality. She tends to fade into the background with ease, and much prefers avoiding most interactions if at all possible. It's almost like her fight or flight instinct has been somewhat mutated into flinch or flight. It takes her a while to become comfortable with others, and when she does, congratulations; you have become a new surface to put between her and the rest of the world. Enjoy.
The upside to the fact that Nightlight seems to feel highly uncomfortable 24/7, is that very little surprises her, and even when this is so, she tends to adapt quickly to rapidly morphing situations. In her mind, given that option A and option B are both bad, just in different ways... there's really no real problem with regards to jumping from one to the other in rapid succession. This, coupled with her keen wits and her fast, agile body... makes her a good huntress out in the wild, amazingly enough. At least where small game is concerned. Her compassion, bulk, and low self esteem, keep her from being a good opponent in actual battle.
To say Nightlight has trust issues is... an understatement. While some people tend to see the world through rose or pink tinged glasses, Nightlight seems to see or think the absolute worst of everyone and anyone she meets on principle. It may be due to her Kittypet background and the fact she was not socialized with other cats all that much, but she can't quite read others very well, and often seems to default to "others bad - do avoid". Life out on the streets and wild have not done much to dissuade her of this notion either, and though clan life is much better than the wilderness... the jury's out on if it'll be safe. On one hand, this means her life isn't exactly the best; she lives absolutely terrified of everyone around her, but on the other hand... when the occasional act or show of compassion and mercy is offered, it tends to light up the world. After all, when you think the worst of others, they can only surprise you for the better.
For all her pessimism when it comes to others, and her rather grim, cynic views on the world and its inhabitants, Nightlight can not help the fact she's kindhearted. It's a trait that can be very easily exploited, but she simply can not bring herself to abandon those in need. She's most at home when she's taking care of others, helping them or otherwise healing them in what ever way she can, which might seem an oxymoron, given she seems to be terrified of everyone around her. But what can you do!
Nightlight's core problem is that she has very little confidence in her skills; she simply does not believe in herself, and when in doubt, which is often, she will not follow her heart or her instincts. She never had to before, when she lived with her two-legger, and it's hard to start now. She does not actively put herself down, mind you, but she has cursed herself in a way; she believes she can't do something, and thus, has condemned herself to failure from the start.
For all her self esteem problems though, under the right circumstances, Nightlight can prove to be quite sharp. She's prone to detail, and will often fixate on tiny things that others might miss, for has no trouble thinking outside the proverbial box. When faced with an intellectual problem that needs to be resolved, rather than imminent, bodily danger, she's much more level headed than she appears. At the end of the day, her worst enemy is herself, and she just needs to be shown as much.

[attr="class","arrgenMAINTEXT"]Nightlight's life had always been a warm, safe place. From her birth, surrounded by mother and siblings to the days she spent learning how to be a cat, rolling across soft, plush rugs with her siblings and her mother. She was bred in the lap of luxury, and treated softly and kindly by both mother, and the Two-legged masters that kept them warm and safe. Not even her eventual adoption out of this home seemed to foil the previous trend.
When she and her siblings were old enough, each one was taken by a different Two-legger, and the one that would become her new master, for the rest of her short life, was warm and kind. She was old, granted; Nightlight could tell by the way she moved, the way she spoke and her scent, but affected their relationship not one iota. Nightlight's temperament had been specifically been bred to be sweet and mild, and she was great pet for the old lady.
Until the day things changed. As all things inevitably do, for one day, Nightlight woke up and her Master did not.
At first, it did not strike the she cat as strange. After all... her Master was old, and she often needed more time to get out of bed, specially in the colder moons. Nightlight did not mind waiting. She was patient, and she was, after all, an adult. She could wait.
But morning became night, and her Two-legger did not rise from the bed. She did not feed Nightlight, and when the she cat approached her master's room, the reason became quite clear from the scent; her master was gone from this world and onto the next. This posed a problem the she cat could not easily resolve, for she had depended on the Two-legger to keep the house warm, not to mention food and water, and though she ventured out to the backyard on the second day of loneliness, the problem obviously persisted.
It was on the third day, when Nightlight had become most hungry, that salvation came in the form of a large, dark loner Tom. It was he that showed her the way out of the backyard, and into the rest of the world, though she had not the skills and advantages he had to tackle it. She stayed with him, and he allowed it, for whatever reason.
Thus was how Nightlight went from Kittypet, to frightened Loner, and though said Tom helped her out at first, life as a loner was harsh enough alone to have to be babysitting someone like Nightlight. He pointed her towards the Clans, and though he scoffed, he figured his good deed had been done. He had saved her, after all, and owed her naught else. Scared, lonely and rather desperate, she stumbled first upon the Windclan, and they mercifully took her in. Despite feeling terribly overwhelmed, at least she is no loner alone. That has to count for something.
